Was passt zu dir?

Nimm MiroMiro, wenn

Designers and developers who want to extract real CSS, design tokens, assets, or code from a website - to use in their own projects, not just experiment visually.

  • Extract real, reusable CSS or Tailwind code - not just temporary visual edits
  • One-click code export of an entire section as clean HTML + Tailwind
  • Bulk asset downloads - images, SVGs, videos, Lottie animations
  • Design token export as a tailwind.config.js, CSS variables or Figma-ready values
  • Color palette extraction with HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH values
  • WCAG 2.2 contrast checker on every inspected element
  • Output designed for AI-coding tools - paste straight into Cursor, Claude or v0

Nimm VisBug, wenn

Designers who want to visually experiment on a live page - moving elements, testing layouts, recoloring without writing code. The output is the experiment, not reusable code.

  • Visual, designer-friendly live editing - drag to move, resize, recolor any element
  • Built-in measurement, alignment, and grid overlay tools
  • Free and open source (Google-backed) - no cost, no paid tier ever
  • Runs in Safari as well as Chrome, Firefox and Edge - MiroMiro has no Safari version
  • Better for what-if experimentation than any inspector tool
  • Lighter on memory than feature-heavy inspectors when you only want to tweak visuals

So unterscheidet sich der Workflow wirklich

Gleiche Aufgabe, beide Tools. Direkt nebeneinander.

Task

Try a different button color on a live site

VisBug

VisBug: select the button → use the color tool → recolor live. Visual, immediate. Lost on reload.

MiroMiro

MiroMiro CSS Inspector: hover the button → see all CSS values → manually try colors. Less visual, but values are copyable as code.

Task

Move a hero element to a different position

VisBug

VisBug: drag to move, resize, align. The right tool for this kind of layout experimentation.

MiroMiro

MiroMiro does not move elements visually. Use VisBug for layout experiments, then MiroMiro to copy the final CSS.

Task

Take the design system home

VisBug

VisBug: edits live in your session only. No way to extract real CSS, tokens, or assets for use in your project.

MiroMiro

MiroMiro: extract design tokens as a tailwind.config.js block, copy any section as HTML + Tailwind, bulk-download assets.

Task

Copy CSS for one element

VisBug

VisBug shows styles in a side panel during edits. Manual copy from the panel.

MiroMiro

MiroMiro: hover, click → CSS or Tailwind classes copied. Built for code-extraction speed.

Task

Download an SVG icon or Lottie animation

VisBug

VisBug does not extract assets. Use a separate SVG or Lottie tool.

MiroMiro

MiroMiro Assets panel: every SVG, image, video, and Lottie listed → bulk download.

Task

Check WCAG color contrast on a button

VisBug

VisBug shows colors but no WCAG ratio. Copy hex codes into a separate calculator.

MiroMiro

MiroMiro: hover any text → WCAG AA/AAA pass/fail badge appears instantly with the contrast ratio.

Was MiroMiro anders macht

The code export runs on our own engine, built, tested and improved in-house.

Unsere eigene Engine

Selbst entwickelt, kein Wrapper.

Choose VisBug for layout experimentation

If you want to drag elements around, test alternate spacing, swap colors, and see how a page would look with changes - VisBug is unmatched. Drag, drop, recolor, all visual.

Choose MiroMiro for extraction-to-codebase

If you want to take real CSS, design tokens, assets, or sections of code and use them in your own project, MiroMiro outputs reusable code instead of in-page edits.

Use both as complementary tools

Many designers iterate visually with VisBug, then use MiroMiro to extract the final CSS / Tailwind / token values for the actual codebase. The tools cover different stages of the same workflow.

VVisBug

Free (open source, Google-backed)

free and open source (Apache-2.0), built by Google Chrome Labs, no paid tier, cross-browser. The repository was archived in September 2026, so it is no longer maintained.

Both have generous free tiers. The choice is about what you actually need, not cost - VisBug for visual experimentation, MiroMiro for code extraction.

VisBug and MiroMiro look similar from the outside (both are designer-friendly Chrome extensions for working with live websites) but they answer different questions. VisBug answers 'how would this look if I tweaked it?' MiroMiro answers 'how do I take this design and use it in my project?'

Choose VisBug if you want to experiment visually - drag, resize, recolor - and don't need to take the result back to your codebase. The edits are the point.

Choose MiroMiro if you want to extract real CSS, real design tokens, real assets, and real code - for use in Cursor, Claude, v0, or your own project. The code is the point.

Most designers who do both kinds of work use both extensions.

Häufige Fragen

What is the difference between VisBug and MiroMiro?

VisBug is a visual editor for live websites - drag, resize, recolor any element, see the changes immediately. Edits are temporary and live in your browser session only. MiroMiro is a visual extractor - copy real CSS, Tailwind code, design tokens, assets, and full sections out of any website to use in your own project. Different tools for different stages of design work.

Can I save my VisBug edits as real CSS?

VisBug shows the styles applied during edits in a side panel - you can manually copy them. But there's no one-click export of the final result as code or as a saved state. MiroMiro is purpose-built for that copy-as-code step: select an element or a section, get clean Tailwind / HTML / CSS to paste into your project.

Is VisBug still maintained by Google?

Not anymore. VisBug's GitHub repository was archived (read-only) on September 15, 2026, and the Chrome extension was last updated in November 2024. It still works for visual experiments today, but nothing will be fixed when browsers change. MiroMiro is actively maintained and covers the inspection side, plus extraction to code.

Does VisBug extract design tokens or download SVGs?

No - VisBug is purely a visual editor. It does not export design tokens, download SVGs, extract Lottie animations, or copy section-level code. MiroMiro adds all of those features alongside CSS inspection.

How do I visually edit a website without losing changes on reload?

VisBug edits are session-local by design. To preserve changes, you'd need to (a) take screenshots in VisBug, or (b) extract the underlying CSS values and apply them to your own project. MiroMiro does (b) directly: extract real CSS or Tailwind classes that you can paste into your codebase, where they actually persist.

Should I use VisBug or MiroMiro for design system work?

MiroMiro - its design token export, section-to-code feature, and Tailwind-friendly output are built for design system work. VisBug is for visual experimentation, not extraction. If you're capturing a design system to feed into Cursor, Claude, v0, or your own codebase, MiroMiro is the right tool.
